“Kutchina or Faber — which is better?” is one of the questions we hear most often at our Behala store. The honest answer: neither brand wins for every kitchen. What decides it is the exact model — its suction, filter type, noise level, size and warranty — and those numbers can differ more between two models of the same brand than between Kutchina and Faber. This guide shows how to compare them for Indian cooking in Kolkata, using published specifications rather than general claims.
Kutchina or Faber: The Short Answer
- Compare models, not brands. Put the specification sheets of the two models you are considering side by side.
- For heavy frying and tadka, look first at suction (m³/hr) and the filter type — baffle filters or a filterless auto-clean design.
- Check the noise figure (dB) of the exact model. Published figures vary widely, even within one brand.
- Read the warranty of the exact model. The two Kutchina models compared below carry a lifetime motor warranty with a 5–6 year product warranty, as published by Kutchina. For a Faber model, check that model’s own warranty terms.
- See both brands in person at Life Link Appliances in Behala, or check current prices online before you visit.

What Matters for Indian Cooking in Kolkata
Bengali and Indian cooking uses plenty of oil, spices and long frying. In Kolkata’s humid air, the grease a chimney does not pull out settles on walls, cabinets and inside the chimney itself. The right chimney is one that captures fumes well at your hob and is practical to keep clean.
Suction capacity
Suction is published in m³/hr. Higher suction helps with heavy daily frying, but real performance also depends on the duct: a long duct run or several bends reduce how much air actually leaves the kitchen.
Filter type and auto-clean
Baffle filters trap oil and can be washed. Filterless designs with auto-clean reduce filter washing, but the inside of the chimney still needs periodic professional cleaning. Whichever you choose, ask how the oil collector is emptied.
Size
Choose a chimney at least as wide as your hob. 60 cm, 75 cm and 90 cm are the common widths.
Noise
Noise is published in dB. If your kitchen opens into the living or dining area, compare this figure carefully.
Air outlet and ducting
Check the air outlet size and plan the duct route before buying. Both Kutchina models compared below use a 150 mm air outlet.
Kutchina vs Faber: What to Compare Side by Side
| What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Suction (m³/hr) | How well smoke and oil are pulled away from the hob |
| Filter type / auto-clean | How often you clean filters and how grease is collected |
| Noise (dB) | Comfort while cooking, especially in open kitchens |
| Size (cm) | Should cover the full width of your hob |
| Controls | Touch, wave/gesture or push-button operation |
| Motor and product warranty | Varies by model — read the exact model’s terms |
| Air outlet (mm) | Must match your ducting plan |
| Price | Depends on size, suction and features — compare the current price of the exact models |
Use the same checklist for any Kutchina or Faber model. If a figure is not published for a model, ask before you buy.
Example: Two Kutchina Models, Very Different Numbers
The two 75 cm Kutchina chimneys below show why the model matters more than the brand. Figures are as published by Kutchina.
| Specification | Kutchina Melody 75 Premium | Kutchina Angela 75 Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 75 cm | 75 cm |
| Suction | 1500±50 m³/hr | 1700±50 m³/hr |
| Noise | 38 dB | 58 dB |
| Cleaning | Filterless, Intelligent Auto Clean | Intelligent Autoclean |
| Air outlet | 150 mm | 150 mm |
| Warranty | Lifetime on motor, 6 years on product | Lifetime on motor, 5 years on product |
Same brand, same width — yet 200 m³/hr apart in suction and 20 dB apart in noise. The Angela 75 pulls harder; the Melody 75 is much quieter. Compare any Faber model against these numbers in the same way. Full specifications are on the Kutchina Melody 75 Premium and Kutchina Angela 75 Premium pages.
Kutchina Chimney Price vs Faber Chimney Price
There is no single “Kutchina price” or “Faber price”. A chimney’s price depends on its size, suction, filter type, auto-clean, controls and finish, and it changes with offers. Compare the price of the two exact models you have shortlisted, together with their warranty.
Current prices for the models we stock are listed on our Kutchina chimneys and Faber kitchen chimneys pages. For today’s price or a current offer, call 090732 87572 or WhatsApp 087777 96624.

- Chimney bought elsewhere: installation ₹695.
